Tezeta Tamrat

As a Manager on the Education Team Tezeta supports our Widespread Impact Community of Practice, investment selection processes, and working on continuing to integrate constituent voice into our work.

Tezeta started her career with New Profit as the Summer Associate on the Portfolio team and led the Executive Compensation Study during that time. Before that, she worked as an AmeriCorps College Adviser and Research & Evaluations Fellow through the College Advising Corps Program (02′ Portfolio organization!). While working as a college adviser, she realized that meaningful, smaller-scale direct interventions were insufficient to end structural inequities embedded at her high school site and elsewhere. At New Profit, she is eager to support innovative social entrepreneurs that make sustainable systems change in the education sector.

Tezeta earned her Dual MBA in Social Impact and MA in Sustainable International Development at The Heller School at Brandeis University and her BA in Africana Studies and Political Science from Davidson College in North Carolina.

As a proud DMV native of Ethiopian heritage, Tezeta gets energy from local and international travels, strolling around bookstores, and having deep conversations with equity-driven people.
