Tezeta Tamrat
Manager
Education Team
Tezeta Tamrat is a Manager at New Profit, where she manages youth mental health initiatives within the Education portfolio. In this role, she has shepherded publications for the field of philanthropy, including the release of a national landscape analysis on youth mental health philanthropy aimed at influencing philanthropic investment toward more community-rooted approaches with a focus on access and opportunity.
She also project managed the Mental Health Equity Catalyze Cohort, supporting sixteen early-stage entrepreneurs by designing capacity-building spaces that fostered peer learning and connection across both in-person convenings and virtual webinars.
Tezeta’s passion for youth mental health began with undergraduate research in Ethiopia, where she studied the sociopolitical and cultural stigma surrounding mental illness.
Her later service as an AmeriCorps College Adviser and Research & Evaluation Fellow with the College Advising Corps reinforced for her that lasting change requires not just direct support, but systemic solutions that expand opportunity and wellbeing for young people.
She holds a Dual MBA in Social Impact and an MA in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School at Brandeis University, and a BA in Africana Studies and Political Science from Davidson College. A proud DMV native of Ethiopian heritage, Tezeta finds energy in traveling, browsing bookstores, and spending weekends café hopping and watching sunsets with her family.
