Shruti Sehra

CEO

Leadership Team

Shruti Sehra has spent two decades at the center of New Profit’s growth—from a $3M, 11-person startup to a $45M institution with more than 70 staff—helping to shape not just the organization, but the broader philanthropic and nonprofit field. As New Profit’s CEO, she brings deep institutional knowledge and a long track record of building the relationships and structures that make durable change possible.

As one of New Profit’s Deal Partners, Shruti has worked alongside 11 portfolio organizations over 20 years—serving as Board Chair for two—in the kind of sustained, intensive partnerships that define New Profit’s model. She built and developed the organization’s Board Development practice, now a cornerstone of how New Profit supports its grantees, and has been a visible voice for the field, convening and speaking alongside nonprofit, philanthropy, grassroots, and private sector leaders at gatherings across the country.

Shruti also helped to architect New Profit’s Field Building function, connecting the organization’s work in education, democracy, and economic mobility while raising more than $70 million over the course of her tenure. She serves on the boards of Zearn, Teaching Lab, New Teacher Center, and Digital Promise, and is a co-organizer of Asian and Pacific Islander American Education Leaders, a network of more than 350 APIA education leaders. She holds an MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BS in Chemistry from MIT.
