Prior to New Profit, Eliza held a number of senior roles within Boston Mayor Thomas Menino’s administration, including Commissioner of Elderly Affairs, Executive Director of the Emergency Shelter Commission, and the Human Services Leadership Team. Her career began in youth counseling, with a focus on youth impacted by the systemic failures of foster care and other interconnected systems. Eliza serves on the board of several national organizations including FoodCorps and Kingmakers of Oakland, and is a Court Appointed Advocate for Foster Youth. She is a graduate of Hamilton College and Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
What drew her to New Profit is what keeps her at New Profit—shared values about putting equity at the center, a shared belief that transformative change requires upending systems and deep relationships, and an unparalleled community of people.
