Zearn is the nonprofit educational organization behind Zearn Math used by 1 in 4 elementary school students and by more than 1 million middle-school students nationwide. 

Educators use Zearn Math to reinforce and deepen, daily, Tier 1  instruction to help all students engage in grade-level math learning.  The program includes adaptive digital math lessons that students complete during classroom math blocks, intervention periods, or tutoring sessions to enhance understanding of grade-level math concepts. Each lesson includes activities to build procedural fluency, guided video lessons that introduce math concepts through a Concrete-to-Pictorial-to-Abstract (CPA) progression, and a closing mastery-based quiz on which students must score 100% in order to advance to the next lesson. Throughout students’ learning, lessons adapt in real time to provide personalized feedback and scaffolding— supporting students through challenges while keeping them engaged in grade-level content. 

Zearn Math earned a “Strong” (Tier 1) rating — the highest possible designation — from Evidence for ESSA by The Center for Research and Reform in Education (CRRE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the independent, national clearinghouse for evidence-based education programs. This top rating confirms that Zearn Math meets the rigorous evidence standards outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), supported by a large-scale, independent randomized controlled trial (RCT) that demonstrated statistically significant academic gains for students, particularly those who are below proficiency.
