Think of Us is a systems change organization- they spark, partner, influence, and create to transform the child welfare system.
Year Founded: 2015
Think of Us is a national nonprofit driving child welfare reform by partnering with impacted youth, families, and government leaders. We’re a team of dedicated advocates, policy experts, and researchers working to center lived experience in child welfare decision-making.
Think of Us looks system-wide to identify opportunities for the greatest impact. Alongside lived experts, they engage across the ecosystem – from federal policymakers to front-line workers and everyone in between – to find and implement scalable solutions. Think of Us works to ensure that leaders in child welfare have access to data and evidence that reflects the “on-the-ground” reality of those impacted by the system and to create new ways for impacted youth and families to influence practices and policies.
Founded by former foster youth and driven by a commitment to centering lived experience, Think of Us has evolved from a technology nonprofit in 2015 into a national nonprofit driving child welfare reform by partnering with impacted youth, families, and government leaders. They work to center lived experience in child welfare decision-making, reduce unnecessary system entries, preserve families, and support youth transitioning out of care. Think of Us’s evolution has been driven by undying curiosity in how the child welfare system impacts youth and families. Tens of thousands ofpeople with lived experience and hundreds of partners across the country have worked with them to identify pain points and solutions.
