Boy's Conference Gentlemens League

The Gentlemen’s League’s mission is to educate, empower, and enrich their males. Intervening in the lives of historically underserved boys, in order to provide them with alternatives that will lead them away from a life of crime and violence, and lead them to a life of achievement.

Year Founded: 2017

The Gentlemen’s League leverages a comprehensive mentorship model to transform the lives of boys of color in grades 3-12 across Memphis. By integrating whole-child supports, social-emotional learning, and strong incentives within a nurturing educational environment, we aim to significantly lower suspension rates, enhance academic achievement, and increase graduation rates. Our targeted approach not only fosters immediate educational success but also aims to disrupt the cycle of youth violence, contributing to a decrease in juvenile crime rates linked to homicide and assault.

Founded to bridge critical gaps in education and social support, The Gentlemen’s League aims to redefine the narrative for boys of color by fostering environments that honor both individual and mainstream American values. Our objectives are clear: increase male representation of color in schools, enhance educational experiences, and dismantle barriers erected by the school-to-prison pipeline. This mission is propelled forward by our history of impactful initiatives and partnerships, including support from organizations like New Profit, which have enabled us to expand our reach and deepen our impact.
