Live Again Fresno’s mission is to improve educational attainment and health outcomes for Parkway youth while advocating to shorten motel tenancy.
Year Founded: 2014
Live Again Fresno serves children and families living in motels along Parkway Drive. Many of life’s journeys bring our family members here, but children never get to choose. Their After School Program picks children up from their place of residence for regular activities, as well as exposure trips that introduce them to a larger worldview. Quality, long-term mentorship is among the strongest tools in youth development. Live Again Fresno’s Mobile Food Service Program provides meals during Summer and Winter months when youth food insecurity is at its highest. Their presence and time spent in volatile motel parking lots are meant to meet children at their most vulnerable stages. Additionally, their Parent Partners come alongside mothers and families to establish trust, build relationships, and assess deeper needs. There is knowledge in trauma and experienced mentors can ease the troubles of seeking redemption.
Since the 2011 inception of Live Again Fresno, the leadership’s mission has focused on building community and a true sense of family. In 2014, Live Again Fresno was incorporated as a nonprofit and we believe its longevity and success is measured in each and every relationship. They have invested and poured into the children and their families to build consistent, trust-filled relationships.
Today Live Again Fresno’s volunteers and Parent Partners are mostly mothers who they built relationships with at the motels and sought redemption alongside. These precious children live in a very traumatic home environment and at school they are often segregated because of their socio-economic backgrounds. Our After School Program provides children a safe place to be themselves, build relationships, and dream of a different future.
