Inner-City Computer Stars (i.c.stars) is an educational and workforce development organization offering technology training, leadership development, and career readiness to inner-city young adults.
Year Founded: 1999
I.c.stars seeks to break barriers and create transformational opportunities for one million untapped learners and leaders to reach and advocate for economic freedom and generational wealth by 2030. To achieve this goal, we run training programs infused with business, leadership, and technology skills to launch the careers of historically marginalized adults and host quarterly events to advance the tech industry.
I.c.stars aims to address racial inequity by providing underserved young people with education and economic opportunities in the tech industry. Program participants build confidence in their future career and community ambitions through business, leadership, and tech skills workshops. Equipped with new skills and mindsets, graduates transform themselves, their local communities through civic engagement, and workplaces by leading teams and projects.
Annually, i.c.stars enrolls an average of 540 individuals across Chicago, Kansas City, and Milwaukee with over 80% completing the training and stepping into tech careers in Fortune 500 companies and launching their own entrepreneurial ventures!
