Economic Mobility

G{Code} instructors and fellows engage side by side in a hands-on learning environment, working through real technical challenges together. The instructors reflect the identities and lived experiences of the students, which creates a powerful sense of belonging, trust, and possibility, reinforcing G{Code}’s community-centered model where representation, mentorship, and shared growth are central to learning and success.

G{Code} creates inclusive pathways into technology for low-income, underserved young women and non-binary people of color (ages 18–25) by providing the training, tools, and community needed to thrive. We combine industry-aligned technical education, co-living housing, and career development to remove barriers, build stability, and accelerate economic mobility. Through an equity-centered, community-rooted model, G{Code} is diversifying the tech workforce from the ground up.

Year Founded: 2019

Through industry partnerships, G{Code} provides mentorship, networking, and job placement support, helping participants build confidence and workplace readiness. The organization’s co-living and learning model offers stable housing paired with immersive training, breaking down silos between education, housing, and economic mobility. Grounded in lived experience and participant feedback, G{Code} not only prepares individuals for tech careers but also reshapes systems to make the innovation economy more inclusive and equitable.

G{Code} House was founded in 2019 to expand access to housing, training, and career pathways in technology for young women from historically marginalized communities across Massachusetts. Rooted in Roxbury and Dorchester, we were created to address the persistent barriers that prevent talented young adults from entering and thriving in the tech economy, including financial instability, limited professional networks, and lack of culturally responsive training. Our model combines free technical education, mentorship, and wraparound support to build both skills and confidence. As we grow, we are developing the G{Code} House as a co-living, learning, and workforce innovation hub that will serve as a community anchor and a replicable model for equitable economic mobility.
