Building a future filled with opportunity
America’s current education system is not designed to serve all students. Yet, the answers are there. Teachers—particularly educators of color—possess critical knowledge and insight into how to foster a sense of ownership and empowerment in their students, leading to increased motivation and a sense of belonging. Similarly, families and community members know the methods that help students achieve academic success and social-emotional wellbeing.
We work with and learn from these stakeholders to ensure we can select and support the education organizations with the greatest potential to improve learning and life outcomes for all of our nation’s students.

These organizations are led by entrepreneurs who have experience working in and with all levels of school systems in communities across the country. We seek leaders who recognize and elevate the ideas, experiences, and brilliance of each student and educator, and who tap into the power of engaging families and the wider school communities.
Parent PowerED: Parents Powering Solutions in Education
Parent PowerED is a multimedia campaign launched in collaboration with our partners at PAVE (Parents Amplifying Voices in Education), Kids First Chicago, and National Parents Union. The campaign includes original content that centers parent voices on matters that are important to them.
To understand the experience of educators and parents, New Profit conducted a series of focus groups in 2021 with education leaders, field influencers, parents, educators, and students to zero in on the question, “What should the future of education look like in order to best support students?”
