Transformation begins with transformational trust
We are driven by the belief that writing a check is not enough—we must work shoulder-to-shoulder with social entrepreneurs as they build innovative solutions to the most intractable problems. Through our venture philanthropy model, refined over 25+ years, we provide a portfolio of entrepreneurs with unrestricted capital, tailored capacity-building support, and access to a community of peer leaders.
Central to this approach is recognizing that the most impactful solutions come from proximate leaders who have direct lived experience or are meaningfully guided by the communities they serve. We select and support entrepreneurs with strong connections to and a deep reverence for the ideas, expertise, and genius of their constituents.
We also recognize that complex social challenges require collaborative solutions. We bring together a diverse community of stakeholders—including across current and historical lines of difference—to foster innovation, increase effectiveness, and improve outcomes. Through building trust, pooling resources, and co-designing solutions, we strive to catalyze systems change.

We have three vehicles for investing in nonprofit organizations: Catalyze, Build, and Transform. We focus on helping entrepreneurs build the capacity of their organizations, which is key to strengthening their long-term impact and sustainability.
We support organizations working in Education, Economic Mobility, and Democracy, three critical and intertwined systems of opportunity in America. We invest in a variety of models and approaches to address the conditions holding problems in place.
