Founded in 2023, the Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishments (ENDPP.ORG) is the only statewide Illinois coalition led by directly impacted individuals, working to dismantle systemic barriers that punish people long after conviction.
Year Founded: 2022
ENDPP.org’s mission is to dismantle systemic barriers that continue to punish people long after an arrest or conviction, centering the leadership of those most affected to drive policy change, public education, and community healing.
The Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishments believes the people directly impacted by the criminal legal system should lead the effort to end the barriers that follow a record long after incarceration. By developing directly impacted leaders as community organizers and policy advocates, and organizing them across the state into statewide coalitions, the organization builds the power needed to win change. Communications strategies carry the stories of those leaders and shift the narrative around how vital people with records are to safety, stability, and prosperity for everyone — fueling campaigns to end legal and economic barriers to housing, education, employment, and wealth building.
